FILMS OUT THIS WEEK

Blooded (15) Gritty British thriller in which the hunters becomethe hunted as an animal extremist group kidnaps and abandons fiveyoung people in the Highlands of Scotland and then hunts them downlike animals. A Blair Witch Project style 'documentary' that's got alot of buzz about it before release thanks to a viral internetcampaign.

Essential Killing (15) Vincent Gallo plays a Taliban fighter inAfghanistan who's captured by the Americans after killing three oftheir troops. He's transferred to Europe for interrogation butescapes after a car crash and find himself on the run in a strangeland. Chase thriller from Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski.

Hop (U) Family friendly fare for the holidays which mixes liveaction and animation. An out-of-work slacker accidentally injuresthe Easter Bunny and has to nurse him back to health so that Eastercan be saved...

which is easier said than done. An interesting cast includesRussell Brand as the voice of the bunny alongside James Marsden,Hugh Laurie and David Hasselhoff.

Killing Bono (15) Homegrown comedy drama about two brothers whoare determined to become rock stars but can only look on as theirold school friends become the biggest band in the world. Directed byNick Hamm and scripted by legendary comedy writers Ian La Frenaisand Dick Clement, it stars Ben Barnes, Pete Postlethwaite and PeterSerafinowicz .

Oranges and Sunshine (tbc) The true and shocking story of aNottingham social worker who uncovers a scandal about the forcedmigration of children in care from the UK to Commonwealth countries,mainly Australia. Some 130,000 children were sent abroad after beingtold their parents were dead and promised a life of oranges andsunshine. Instead they got hard labour and a lifetime ininstitutions.

Powerful drama starring Emily Watson, Hugo Weaving and DavidWenham.

Sucker Punch (12A) A young girl retreats into a fantasy worldafter her wicked stepfather locks her up in a mental asylum. Asfantasy and reality blur, she teams up with other inmates to hatchan escape plan which involves finding five special items andfighting terrifying creatures. CGI-heavy action directed by ZackSnyder, starring Abbie Cornish.
