Vic: Barbecue to welcome home Timor troops

MELBOURNE, April 6 AAP - Soldiers who served in the East Timor peacekeeping force will
be the guests of Premier Steve Bracks at a family barbecue this weekend.

Mr Bracks told parliament the event at Parliament House would allow Victorians who
served with Interfet in East Timor to relax with comrades, family and friends in an informal
atmosphere.

"Saturday's family day, and the barbecue is our way of saying welcome home to the troops
in a relaxed atmosphere," he said.

"It is also an opportunity to express our thanks and gratitude to their families for
their extraordinary efforts."

About 450 guests would attend, including 130 returned service personnel, with 160 other
adults and 70 children.
